Chris Hopkins
Chris credits South Kent School for shaping an early awareness of resource use and its impacts. As a student there in the early 1970s, Chris was introduced to the writings of Aldo Leopold (A Sand County Almanac), E.F. Schumacher (Small Is Beautiful), and others who shared similar perspectives. This exposure has remained influential ever since.
The message that humanity is just one part of a complex, interconnected ecosystem has led Chris to connect with a growing number of individuals who share this truth. Among these influences, Chris has embraced Allan Savory’s system as a way of engaging with ecological complexity in a manageable framework. Savory and the many who support his work through “a holistic decision framework” continue to inspire Chris forward.
The awareness and passion developed from this lifelong journey are what Chris now brings to Sovereign Hilltop.
